The Darkness Cometh

The Darkness Cometh

Dark shadows fall across my world again
Turning all I know
ll I hope for
Into Darkness

Pain washes over me
Like a wave of dispair
Where all light
All air
Has been taken away
And I am merely left
Once again
In the darkness

No hope
No light
Only pain . . .

A Vampire's Kiss: Part 3

A Vampire's Kiss: Part 3

Charles took a breath for a moment and met Ishlan's gaze. "So now that you've turned her, what are your intentions towards my goddaughter?" he asked seriously.

"Charles!" she said with stunned surprise.

"I see that you like him, Lizzie . . . I just don't want to see you hurt . . ." he replied honestly. "You've been through enough . .."

"I want to marry her." He said calm. "The moment I saw her, I wanted that."

Lizzie didn't know what to say. Everything was happening so fast . . . but it wasn't as if it wasn't an appealing idea . . . It seemed they've have forever to make things work . . .

Charles smiled and was a bit confused. "Can you go into churches?" he asked curiously. "You'll have to forgive me, but most of what I know of your kind is from the entertainment industry."

"As long as it is not in broad daylight, we can go anywhere we want. Crucifixes and all that nonsense... fables."

"Well, a candlelit ceremony can be arranged . . . if that's what you'd like, Lizzie . . . I mean, we haven't exactly heard from you . . ."

"I don't know," she said suddenly. "It's all just so fast . . . I mean . . ." she smiled. "I like the idea . . . I just still have so many questions . . ."

"We don't have to straight away." Ishlan said. "We have all the time in the world."

She smiled softly and took his hand in her own.

"So . . ." Charles replied. "What should I tell our business associates?"

"That . . . I have been called away on some other important matters, but that I can always be reached by the computer. And you know, if anything pressing comes up, I'll deal with it. There will just have to be adjustments . . ."

"As we spoke about," he said. "I just worry for you . . ." He sighed. "I suppose I should also ask if your kind have any enemies . . . or are vampire hunters also made up?"

"They aren't. But they only hunt who is stepping in their way, I am not, my kills entail people who deserve to die, thus I am safe for them."

"So Elizabeth should be safe then?"

"Yes she will be."

"Lizzie, how about you hunt around the kitchen and see if you can't find some of those chocolate chip cookies we like so much . . . I believe there's an unopened bag of them in one of the cupboards . . . Anna can show you where if she's still puttering around."

She gave him an exasperated look, knowing he wanted to speak with Ishlan alone. Reluctantly she left.

Charles looked at Ishlan. "Did she tell you how she contracted the aids virus?" he asked. "Since you knew she had it . . . did she tell you?"

"No, she hasn't. But a vampire can smell that from a mile away.."

"Well, she was raped . . ." he said with a sigh and walked to a window. They never did catch the man . . . He disappeared into the shadows . . . Emotionally, I wasn't sure she'd recovered. It's only been a year . . . It wasn't the first time either. Though the others were long ago . . . She didn't tell me until only a handful of years ago after her father died."

"Maybe that serves a good dinner if I lay my hands on him.."

"One can only hope," he replied with a wry smile. "I didn't think she'd tell you the whole story . . . She isn't an open book. Perhaps you did your research on her. Perhaps not . . . There isn't a lot in the company profile except what one would expect . . . Qualifications . . . accomplishments . . . Nothing personal. I think the only reason I know is that she trusts me . . . I would never turn my back on her when others have . . . I promised her father, right before he died that I'd watch over her like my own . . . It's not like I wouldn't anyway. I was there the day she was born. She IS like my own . . ."

"There is no reason to not be there for her, love doesn't change, she won't see you as a prey."

"I wouldn't think so . . ." he replied. "But I just want you to know what she means to me . . . that I would do anything to protect her . . . and if there is anything she needs to keep her safe, I need to know."

"She needs a place like this, with special windows, she needs me to teach her how to be a vampire, and if she loves me still after that, she can choose to marry her and if not, she knows what she needs to get for an own house."

"I'll see about having the windows done immediately," he said. "In case she should ever need another place to stay . . . What about travel? How do you do it? Where do you stay? It's not as if you can go on holiday easily . . . There are just things I'm curious about."

"I mostly travel by car, I have adjusted those windows."

"And hotels?" he asked.

"Cottages and hotel rooms can be adjusted."

"All right . . ." he said. "And what would happen if she did become exposed to the light?" This was a real, genuine concern for her. It was reflected in his eyes,

"She will burn to a crisp and die." He said.

He sighed and rubbed his forehead. "But you'll keep her safe? She isn't prone to being reckless usually . . . but she's had her moments . . ."

"Yes I promise you."

He relaxed a moment and met that man's eyes. "I will hold you to that . . ."

"Hold him to what?" Elizabeth asked as she entered the room with a plate of cookies and went to pour herself a cup of coffee. She then brought the tray over and set it on the table near them.

"Well?" she asked again, as she dunked her cookie in the hot liquid for a moment and took a bite.

"He made me promise to take good care of you, which I shall."

"Charles . . ." she said as she blushed.

"I have a right," he grinned.

"He does."

Charles grabbed a cookie and dunked it in a cup of coffee as well.

"So . . . what do you two do now?" he asked. "I mean, are you going to go out and prowl the night?" He grinned.

"Yes we will when she feels like it."

She smiled. "Well, I don't know about that, but I wouldn't mind walking around a bit . . . You wouldn't believe all I can see and hear now . . . and smell . . . It's incredible, really . . ."

"I'm sure it is," he replied.

They stayed a bit longer before they decided it was time to leave.

Ishlan looked at him. "I shall protect her, vampires are a rather tight pack, you would be surprised how many of us there are.."

"I'm sure I would be," he said. "Always feel free to stop by for a visit . . ."

"As long as it is after sundown." He says. "We shall."

"Good . . ."

They didn't stay much longer as she knew Charles needed to sleep with his new found responsibilities. Not that he minded, she knew. He had wanted her to out for awhile . . . just not exactly in this way.

As they walked the city, she marveled at the sounds and sights. The lights twinkled and the colors were so vibrant. It was like seeing it all for the first time. And smelling the restaurants . . . and flowers . . . and garbage . . . It had rained earlier in the day and she could even smell the wetness of a dog . . . somewhere . . . and she heard heartbeats of the people that passed them. It was disconcerting and she looked at Ishlan.

"Am I supposed to be able to hear their heartbeats?" she asked quietly.

"Oh yes.. you are and you shall." He said. "You need to feed." He went to the fridge and poured a glass of blood again, then he warmed it in the microwave.

She took it and drank it. Though it still seemed strange to her, it was less disturbing now. "What kind of blood is this anyway?" she asked curiously.

"The blood of a cow, I get it from the slaughterhouses."

"Ah . . ." she said as she finished it. She stood up and went to the window, looking out across the sky. Part of her felt lost and part of her felt found . . . It was a strange contradiction for her.

"Human blood is better." He said.

She turned to him. "I don't know if I can do it . . ." she said seriously. "How will I know?"

"You will be able to I promise, but you should know why you kill, besides to stay alive." he said.

"Why then?" she asked curiously.

"You have a purpose, to rid the world of vermin, rapists, murderers.."

"And how do we know who they are?" she asked seriously. She only knew two of her rapists. Maybe she would go after them one day . . . but the man that had given her aids she didn't know . . .

"I hear that from Peter Harden."

"The man whose number you left on the side table for me . . ." she said softly.

He nods.

She was still unsure. "What does he do?" she asked. "Does he just give you information and you hunt these people down? Is there training?"

"There is training, he shall tell you that. He works for secret services."

"I just . . ." There was so much uncertainty in her green eyes. Could she actually take a life. Would a new instinct kick in? Would she feel guilty afterwards?

"You will do fine, especially after your first kill."

She sighed. "Did you ever feel guilt?" she asked curiously.

"At first I did, when I didn't know what I needed to kill, I am now 500 years old, and have always worked for people I can trust fully; besides running my various companies."

"So . . . I call Peter Harden . . . I am guessing you'd be my teacher though . . ."

"If he wishes that I shall."

"So . . . he could accept me or reject me . . ."

"Yes."

"And what if he rejects me?" she asked curiously.

"He won't."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because he knows my knowledge of people.'

She was silent for a moment. "When do you suggest I call? Do I wait until morning?"

"You can call now."

She met his eyes once more for assurance and then went into the other room to the phone; taking the number and calling it.

A man answered the phone.

"Is this Peter Harden?" she asked.

"Yes," he said. "Is this Elizabeth Bennet?"

"Yes," she said softly. "I guess you know why I'm calling . . ."

"I believe I do," he said.

They talked for the better part of an hour before he hung up with her and called Ishlan.

"Ishlan."

"It's Peter," he said. "Train her. She could be a useful asset, but when she's out to make a kill, you need to make sure she knows how to be invisible . . . there are people that know her name and face."

"I know that Peter thank you, I shall teach her to vanish, I shall teach her all the skills."

"Watch her though," he said. "I am pretty sure she can do this, but I can tell she has a strong emotional streak. Still, I know she didn't get where she was in business without having a level head too . . . but this was a literally life altering event.

"I am aware. Do you know her rapist?"

"Not yet," he said. "But I've requested the DNA . . . We'll run it through our own database and see what comes up."

"Very well, what shall be tonight's kill?"

His name is Kevin Millson," he replied. "Serial rapist but has managed to wiggle out of a conviction three times. He was just released and is probably on the prowl. He frequents the bars near the boardwalk."

"Can you send me a picture?"

"Of course," he replied. "It's already on the computer. This should be a good one to start her off with . . . In fact, she could make the perfect bait."

"I agree." He said. "I shall arrange it."

"Good," he said. With that, he hung up the phone.
Ishlan read the information. "Your first kill is tonight." He said handing her the data. They had spent some time with the shadow-step, vanish and other vampiric abilities.

She read what he was. Would it really be so hard, she thought. "So he likes my type . . ." she replied, gathering the information from the report.

"He does."

She sighed. "I guess we should go . . ."

"Yes, now is the time for it."

They went down to the boardwalk. It wasn't overly busy, but there was a bit of a crowd. It was her third bar she'd entered when she saw him drinking . . . chatting with the bartender. For a moment, her heartbeat literally echoed in her own ears. Taking a deep breath, she walked up to the bar.

"Long Island Iced Tea," she said to the bartender just beside the man.

"One long island for the lady," the bartender said as he mixed it up.

"Why don't you let me pay for that," the man smirked.

"Oh . . . no, that's all right," she said. He would be more likely to go after her, if she refused him, she was sure. He seemed the type.

"Come on . . . It's just a drink . . . How can you turn down a free drink?"

She smirked at him with her green eyes. "Like this," she said paying for the drink and taking it, walking over to a table. She chatted with a few other people. Making small talk had never been a problem for her with all the functions she'd had to attend. But she sensed his eyes hardly left her.

As she finished the drink and left the bar she walked slowly and just as she predicted, he was out the door . . . she could hear his feet on the pavement and hear his heartbeat. She could even sense his aggression . . . maybe it came more in the form of a smell.

She let him catch up to her as she reached a dark alley. Suddenly, he grabbed her from behind and pushed her into the darkness clamping his hand over her mouth. For a split second, she was back to that night almost a year ago and purely on instinct, she fought back. With her new-found strength, she sent him flying into the other wall of the alley. He hit with a sickening thud, but wasn't dead. He got back to his feet and growled.

"Bitch!" He went after her.

That moment was more like a blur as she had managed to get him from behind and before she realized it, he was dead . . . she had bitten his neck . . . drank his blood. As his heart stopped beating, she dropped his body to the ground. She looked at it and saw her reflection in a puddle from a street light not too far away.

Pale skin . . . her lips and chin covered in blood.

"Bit wild that can be done better.. but she too had gotten it, the feeling of the heart over her whole body, the feeling of no return to her mind, and the intense victory, the great taste of the fresh blood...

"For a moment . . . I thought . . ." But her voice died away. The flashback had been unexpected and strong.

"That he could rape you? Impossible he is a mortal."

"I know . . ." she said softly. "It was . . . just . . . familiar . . ." She didn't know what else to say. She hadn't voiced to him about her own rape.

"You need to get used to it."

"Yeah," she said, bending down to wash her face with the little bit of water that was down there.

"Come, we go home. It shall be light soon.”

"All right," she said and followed. A mixture of emotions ran through her, but no guilt for having killed the man. He had, after all, tried to rape her.

He brought her to his car and drove off.

Once back at the house he walked her back to the bedroom. She needed to shower . . . but she turned around and held onto him suddenly. It was more for comfort than anything else, but she wanted him to be with her . . . To hold her . . . to kiss her . . .

He did just that, he kissed her, held her close…

A Vampire's Kiss: Part 2

(Keep in mind this is only for fun and we don't write every day so there will be continuity errors. Just have fun with it, like we do write it! That is, if anyone is crazy enough to read this! LOL!)

A Vampire's Kiss: Part 2

"I thought it wasn't supposed to . . ." she said softly, her green eyes gazing into his eyes.

"Supposed to what?"

"My heart . . . beat . . ." she said. "I can . . . feel it hammering in my
chest . . . Just like I'm still . . . alive . .
.."

"We still have blood.. and we drink it to stay alive.. but unlike the myths you have heard, we can also eat normal food."

"I saw you at dinner eating . . ." she replied. "Another reason I didn't think you were telling me the truth . . . She stepped away from him for a moment and sat back down on the bed. "This is still so much to take in . . . what about my company? What about my work . . . ? My friends . . . co-workers . . ."

She didn't have that many close friends and Charles was the closest she had to real family . . . her family was filled with abusive people. Her father was the only one who wasn't . . . after he died everything changed for the worst . . . except that SHE got Bennet Industries and they only got pocket change. In the end, her father knew what they were . . . and did his best to protect her.

"You cannot go back." He said. "You have died this night..."

"But I just talked to Charles . . . He knows I'm alive . . ." she said. "I have . . . I have to see him. He has to know . . . someone has to know . .
.."

"Do you think he shall believe you? Go ahead just wait until after dark." He
said.

"So . . . what happens now?" she asked. "As you said, even if he doesn't believe me . . . what happens? Obviously most of what I know about vampires isn't exactly the truth . . . and . . ." She was still unsure . . . confused . . .

"I don't know, I never told anyone.." He said. "And my next of kin is dead for a long time now."

"How do you live?" she asked. "I mean, obviously you have money . . . to have a place like this . . ."

"I have always had many names, lived in many countries." He said. "Last names that is, it is even easier with the inventions of internet and the computer to give yourself a new place to stay. I have money and companies all over the earth."

"I just can't lose my father's company . . ." she said. "He trusted me with it . . . and . . . and it's his legacy since . . . since I can't give him another kind . . ."

"You cannot go there at daytime."

She sighed. "I can handle a lot of it over the computer, but meetings . . ." she said. "I handle the meetings . . . Oh my god . . ." Could she just hand that responsibility to Charles. It would be like giving up a part of the company. Not that she didn't trust him . . . if there was ever anyone to trust . . . But then she thought about what he said . . . She would have been dead . . . There was gratitude within her. She was glad she wouldn't have to suffer what was waiting for her. But it wasn't an easy thing to accept. Her life for the last few years had been the company . . . Of course Charles had wanted her to take a
vacation . . . He’d said it over and over again . . .

"You have to make your arrangements.. you can rent any apartment as long as you make sure it is adapted for people that cannot endure the sun. It is an illness."

"What about you?" she asked softly. "Us . . . if there is an ‘us’ . . ." She was afraid.

"I have a large mansion in the city.. one you are very welcome at.. I.. fell in love with you.. but maybe it is too soon.."

She smiled softly. "I haven't been with anyone . . . not in a long time . . . not since . . ." She couldn't say it. It was still hard for her to talk about. "But it's strange how with you I felt different from the first moment you approached me . . . Is that a vampire thing or . . . a chemistry thing? I don't know . . ."

"That is chemistry." He said.

She smiled softly. "I have to admit . . . I'm pretty scared . . ." She hated admitting that, but she felt so far out of her depth . . .

"That is understandable. But you will find, it's not bad being a vampire."

She give him a little smile. "And I have you to guide me?"

"Yes.. if you wish me to. I am not the only vampire.."

"I figured that . . ." she said apprehensively. "But I doubt all the others are like you . . ."

"Many are." He said. "Some are not only out for blood, they have no style."

Slowly, she reached out for his hands. "So when did you know you would turn me?" she asked curiously.

"I wasn't planning on it, until we danced, until I knew you would wither away and die.. I could not let it happen."

She smiled softly. "I need a teacher . . ." she said softly.

“I shall teach you.. you must be hungry, I see it at your color.."

She nodded, but wasn't sure how she would take to drinking blood . . .

He went to the fridge, and took out some blood. "We can live of animal blood for a short while, but not forever.." He poured the blood in a glass, and warmed it in the microwave. Then he handed it to her. "Trust me, it isn't so bad."

She was hesitant, but took the glass. The thought churned her stomach, but at the same time, the smell made her hungry . . . It made no sense . . . But finally, she took a sip and soon realized the glass was empty. "Oh my god . . ." she said.

"Want some more?" He asked taking the glass.

"I guess . . ." she said. "It was like . . . I don't know . . . salty . . . metallic . . ."

"I know, human blood is way sweeter.."

"I can't even imagine . . . I mean . . . how do you get human blood?" she asked softly. "I mean, we have to kill people?"

He nods. "Oh yes, we do... but we can pick who and what we kill." He adds. "I live off the blood of the criminals of the world. I am known as Mystic shadow.. the vampire killer.." Smirk. "The government captured me once... a man called Peter Harden trained me, he is human.. but he figured I would be the perfect assassin."

"And . . . you think I will be?" she asked curiously.

“Maybe you find your own prey, but this is what I normally hunt.. you are by the way the first I turned into a vampire.."

"I don't remember much of . . . what you turned me," she said softly. "I vaguely remember you biting me and me drinking your blood . . . I thought I'd dreamed it . . ." She laughed softly.

"It was the truth.." He said. "That is how it is done."

She took the second glass he offered. "So I guess . . . I meet Peter Harden . .. . after I speak with Charles . . . I have to . . . and . . . do I have fangs?" she asked not having looked at herself, but she thought she felt points on her canines.

"Yes you do.." He smiled. "Very pretty and sharp.."

She smiled again. "So . . . being a vampire so we have special powers or anything? Or is it just being immortal?"

"We are immortal, we can turn ourselves into the shades.. we are the knights that dwell the night, you have superior smell, vision and hearing.."

"Speed? Strength?" she grinned. "Or was that just made up? I don't believe we can fly . . ."

"We cannot fly, but superior strength and speed we do have."

"Well, that alone should make life interesting . . ." she said. "I guess I should . . . shower . . . and pay Charles a visit . . . I can take time off . . . He'll be more than happy if I disappear from work for awhile . . ."

"Do that or take a bath.." He said. "I will not ring Peter, but I leave his number at the phone since it is your choice.."

She nodded. "Does he know about me yet?" she asked.

"No.. he doesn't.." He said. "So it is entirely up to you, if you tell him.. Ishlan sent you.."

She nodded. "All right . . ." she replied. "Will you come with me?" she asked.

"Yes I shall." He said. "It is not so far."

She took his hand. "Want to . . . shower with me too?" she asked and blushed.

"I would love to.” He kissed her.

They returned to her suite as she kissed him and helped him out of his own clothes as her shirt was unbuttoned and dropped to the floor . . .

His hands roamed..

She moaned softly as she kissed him. She'd never felt this way with anyone . .. . especially after what had happened . . . but this him it was so much . . . as if they were meant to be.

They melted together, but as soon as they had their love making over he left, for a job as he said

She sighed and showered, hoping that he would go to see Charles with her . . .. but maybe it was best she went alone . . . Though she still didn't feel secure enough with this new identity of hers.

Dressing, she grabbed her cell phone and headed out the door. She was given keys. Calling for a cab, she also placed a call to Charles.

"I'm coming over," she said. "We need to talk."

"Is everything all right?" he asked with some concern.

"Yeah . . . kind of . . . I'll talk to you when I get there," she said.

"All right," he replied. "I'll see you shortly. I'll put on some tea."

"Good idea," she replied.

It wasn't long before she was on her way there.

Ishlan emerged just before Charles arrived however. He took her hand and smiled.

She smiled with relief. "I'm glad you're here . . ." she replied.

"I know you need me, but you explain, you know him better, let me make some coffee.. so you are alone for a moment while knowing I am near.'

She nodded. As soon as she walked into the study, she found him. He looked concerned.

"Lizzie . . ." he said with concern. He went to her and embraced her. "I was so worried about you. What happened? You look a bit pale . . ."

She smiled and laughed nervously. "Yeah . . . a lot's happened, Charles . . . Some of it you aren't going to believe . . ."

"Try me . . ."

"You know, Ishlan Pavlova?

"Yes, the place we rented for the ball was his . . ." he said.

"Yeah, well . . . I've been with him this whole time," she said.

Instantly he was smiling. "That's wonderful!" he replied and hugged her.

"Yeah," she replied. "Actually it is a good thing . . . but . . . uh . . . something's changed and you're going to have to handle a lot more of the business. I can do a lot from my computer, but I won't be able to do the face to face meetings anymore."

"What?" he asked with surprise. "Why?" he asked with even more concern.

"Well . . . they take place during the day and . . . I can't be out in sunlight anymore."

He laughed. "Don't be ridiculous . . ."

"I'm not. If I go out in the sunlight I'll die," she replied.

The seriousness of her voice told him she wasn't joking. "What happened?” he asked with concern.

"Well . . . I am not lying about this and you need to have an open mind . . .."

"What, Lizzie! For god sake tell me what's going on!"

"I'm a vampire . . ." she said.

He stared at her. Out of everything she could have said, that was not one he had expected to hear.

"A . . . a vampire?" he said with disbelief. "You can't be serious . . ."

"Yeah . .. you know I thought the same thing at first, but it's true . . . I even have the fangs," she said showing him her teeth. "Trust me, these are real . . ."

"I can't believe it," he said. "It can't possibly be true."

"Charles, I'm handing over a large portion of work to you . . . does that sound like something I would have normally done?"

That gave him pause. "Still, you have to understand how outlandish this sounds.”

"Of course, I do," she replied. "but you know me . . . I'm not lying. I'm a vampire . . . I'm going to need to take some time off. I will handle everything I can over the computer and when I'm back in town we'll have our usual meetings . . ."

"Well, having you over for dinner might be a problem . . ."

"Not really," she said. "I can even go to fundraisers and meetings as long as they're in the evening . . ." She sighed. "Charles, I need you to understand and be there for me . . . It's not exactly something I'm used to yet myself. It's all new territory."

"But why?" he asked.

"I asked the same thing," she said. "Turns out I was dying and I didn't know it . . . Ishlan saved me . . ."

"From what?" he asked.

"Remember when I was raped?" she asked. She finally said the word.

"Of course," he replied. As if he could ever forget it.

"He gave me aids."

"But your tests were clear . . ." he said.

"I was scheduled for another test next month . . . it would have come out positive . . ."

"And you're certain?"

"I believe him . . ." she said softly.

Ishlan came inside now, with coffee, he put the tray down and disappeared like a shade.. but her senses told her he was near.

"Coffee?" he said with surprise.

"Yeah," she said with a smile. "Can you accept this?" she asked. "I can still eat real food . . . I can be the same person I was . . . I just can't be out in the sunlight . . ."

He smirked. "I wanted you to take a break, but this is pushing it a bit far . . ."

She laughed softly. "I know," she replied. "But can you accept it?"

"Lizzie, you're my goddaughter . . of course . . ." He embraced her.

An audible sigh of relief escaped her.

Ishlan came in now, and waited.

"Charles, this is Ishlan . . ." she smiled and went to him taking his hand in her own.

He could see the instant light in her face. She liked him . . . a lot . . .

"Nice to meet you face to face," he smiled. "Charles Dunham. We spoke on the
phone a few times as I made some of the arrangements for the ball."
"Yes we did it is a pleasure to meet you." Ishlan said calm.

They shook hands. "So I guess you're a . . . vampire as well? Well, since you changed her . . . of course."

"Yes." He said calm anew.

A Vampire's Kiss

Well, this is something a friend and I do - we write silly stories together. It's not the greatest writing in the world, but it keeps my creativity going and it's fun! This is not serious writing so there will be all kinds of mistakes and misspellings and all that fun stuff. But they're interesting! LOL! There will probably be several parts to this story, so if interested keep on reading, but I wouldn't expect an end. We don't usually bring these to an ending. We just end. LOL! Anyway, here is our newest creation!

A Vampire’s Kiss

Elizabeth Bennet stood at the window looking down at the city below her. The sky was like a dark blanket as the lights in the city sparkled and shined brightly.

Tonight was her company's charity Halloween ball. She looked at the costume she had laid out on the bed. It was a princess . . . It was something she might have felt she was long ago before her father had died and her mother and siblings had a chance to do what they wanted to her emotionally. Now she felt more like a ghost . . . but this was all about the illusion. People expected to see a princess - of industry. Her company was multi-national. IT made a fortune. She had controlling stock and she was the President.

However, her Vice President and one of the few people she actually trusted had been urging her to take a break . . . She kept putting it off, but she was trying to force her hand by Christmas . . . In fact, she suspected that his Christmas present for her was going to be an airline ticket, hotel accommodations . . . anywhere far away from the office.

That made her smile for a moment, knowing that he cared. But reality came back . . . time for work, she thought to herself as she went to the bathroom, took a shower and got ready for the Halloween ball . . .

When she arrived the party had already started people danced.

But she turned heads in the pink and purple sparkling dress with a rhinestone tiara in shades that matched.

At lot of the guests smiled, clapped and sighed as she walked by and as quickly as she could, headed to the bar and got herself a drink. She hated functions like this. It wasn't that she didn't like the people, but she wasn't so into the large crowds . . . not that anyone would notice her discomfort. Like all things about her, she was very controlled with expressing her emotions.

Then she spotted him, dark brown hair, dark brown eyes.. a vampire... he saw her and came. "Welcome.. let me ask you for a dance princess... My name is Ishlan Pavlov..."

"Well hello, Ishlan," she grinned. "I would be honored to accept a dance."

He smiled, she could see his fangs, he looked actually like Brad Pitt in interview with the vampire.. he started to dance, graciously... she didn't know that he was a real vampire..

"I don't recall seeing you before," she said softly, entranced by him. "Are you new to the charity circuit?"

"Not really, I own this place." He says.

"Ah . . . so you were gracious enough to let us rent out the ballroom and every rooms . . . well, thank you," she replied.

A strange feeling hit her. How long had it been since she had felt happy? Because in this moment, she was happy . . . It seemed like it had been forever . . .

"All to meet a pretty lady like you.." He smiled.

She laughed softly. "Thank you for the compliment . . ." she replied, though she felt she was hardly pretty enough to deserve such attention.

"Let us eat.. there is a terrific meal served.." He brought her to the diner room.

She was more than happy to stay by his side, but as they took their turn sitting down, she had to excuse herself to go up to the podium to make the expected speech.

Before she began she gave another look to Ishlan and smiled.

"Welcome everyone, to Bennet Industries charity dinner to benefit abused children all over our country. We take children seriously, not just as those in our country who don't have a voice of our own and can't protect themselves, but also the fact that these children are going to grow up to be our next generation and they deserve a better life than one where abuse reigns over them. They deserve a life without fear and those that would harm children should be punished severely. Your donations tonight will help protect our children’s' future and help us push for harsher laws against those that abuse children. So think of your own families . . . your sons, daughters, grandchildren . . . nieces and nephews . . . Help ensure that all children will grow up safe and loved . . . Thank you. Now everyone, have a great evening and have fun," she ended.

There was a round of applause and several people stood.

She just merely smiled and blushed as she made her way back to the table.

He stood as well and applauded. "Bravo for that speech.." She was gorgeous.. he could not wait for her to fall asleep.. then he would drink.. make her his..

The rest of the evening was spent dancing, chatting to get donations for the fund . . . and for the first time in ages, she didn't feel as if she were forcing herself to be there. She had always believed in the cause, but some times it had been so difficult to put on the presence and the smiles for the crowd . . . But not tonight.

At the end of the evening they had taken in a couple of million for the cause.

As people began to leave she began to start feeling her energy wane just a bit.

"You should sleep in the suite we arranged for you upstairs.." He said.

"It is where my things are, right?" she smiled softly. "Ishlan . . . I just wanted to thank you . . . You made this evening much more enjoyable than it would have been otherwise . . ."

"Your thanks are very much appreciated, I can show you where it is, you shall like the view of the city.'

She took the arm he offered her as a light blush colored her cheeks. When had been the last time she had even been interested in a man? She couldn't remember . . . everything she'd gone through had not made her keen to get into too many relationships and with her status, she had to be particularly careful that men were interested in her and not her wealth or status . . . For awhile it just hadn't been worth the extra effort.

He showed her to the place, it was really luxurious.

"Oh my god . . . and I can see you've already had my things moved . . ." she smiled. "You do have self-confidence . . ."

"I am known to have..' He smiled and kissed her.

Her heart began to pound in her chest. This man made her feel things she hadn't felt . . . maybe ever . . . As the kiss ended, her green eyes gazed at him. There was a mixture of emotion playing through them . . .

"I should not have done that.. but I want..'

She smiled softly. "What do you want?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. She wanted him to kiss her . . . to touch her . . .

And he did, they made love that night.. but when she fell asleep, he bit her softly..

She moaned gently and her eyes fluttered open. "Ishlan . . .?" she asked confused.

He stroked her hairs, kept drinking... He felt her heartbeat slow... slow..

"Ishlan . . ." she said softly . . . her voice trailing away . . . her eyes closing.

He stopped, Then he took a knife and slit his wrist. "Drink.."

It was almost instinct as she did what he said feeling as if she were in a thick fog . . . that was enveloping her . . . like a dream . . .

He smiled, she was like him now, his, forever.. he closed the curtains, and fell asleep.

She felt as if she'd slept for far too long as the chime of her cell phone went off. As she moved, it felt like she was drugged . . . very groggy . . . as she reached for it.

"Hello?" she said, still not quite awake.

"Elizabeth, where are you?" came a concerned voice.

"What time is it?" she asked.

"About 6pm," he replied. "But I haven't heard from you since the Halloween ball . . ."

"So?" she asked. "Charles . . . what is the problem? Because I over slept one night?"

"Lizzie, you've been out of reach for the last three days . . ." he said.

"What??" she said with surprise.

He had the windows of his apartment treated so the sun would not burn him, he knew going out during the day was a no.. but she didn't yet.

Getting up, she found herself alone and feeling unnerved.

"I'll call you back," she replied, hanging up the phone. Going to the window, she saw the sun setting. But it was strange. Though the room was darkened, she could see well . . . like a cat, she thought. What had happened? Had she been drugged? She was in nothing, but a man's white dress shirt . . . going into the bathroom, she turned on the light and she felt like it was blinding. She turned it off for a moment and then back on. Slowly, she adjusted to it.

Washing her face with some cold water, she looked at herself in the mirror . . . She was pale . . . and as she looked on her neck, she saw the puncture wounds.

"What the hell is this?" she said softly to herself, touching the scabs. Lizzie vaguely remembered Ishlan biting her neck . . . and her drinking from his wrist . . . but it had just been a strange dream, she thought. Brought on by his costume and her love of certain vampire movies . . . It had to be a dream . . .

Going into the bedroom once again, she turned on the side table lamp . . . and felt a presence.

"How are you feeling?" He asked. she could see his fangs. He was dressed in jeans and a T shirt. His eyes were yellow and not brown. That evening he had used color contacts.

"Confused," she said softly; goose bumps covering her. "I've slept for three days? I mean, you're good, but . . . No man has made me sleep for three days straight . . ."

"I am not... a human man in that sense.. I am a vampire."

"But . . . vampires aren't real . . ." she said, feeling like her sanity was failing her. After all, her body responded to him differently than she had ever responded to any man. Even knowing that he might have drugged her, she couldn't bring herself to just leave . . . As if there were a connection between them. And his fangs and eyes spoke to what he was and yet . . . it couldn't be real, her mind kept telling her.

"We are..' He said. "Real."

"I . . . I need to go," she said softly as she looked around the room for her clothes.

"People are looking for me . . . My Vice President Charles Dunham has been worried sick about me . . ."

"You cannot go out in the sun! It will kill you!".

"What?" she said. "Even if I were to believe you, the sun is setting . . ." She replied. "I would be safe enough . . . but . . . I can't believe this. None of this is real . . . It can't be . . ." She grabbed some clothes.

He sighed. "It is and I am sorry.." He showed his fangs. "These are not fake!"

She swallowed hard and sat down on the bed. For the first time, she allowed her senses to take over. Closing her eyes, she could even hear noise from the city that otherwise she wouldn't have been able to hear . . . and she could smell . . . what seemed like everything; food, flowers, the scent of fertilizer and the smell of the animals from the grounds . . . a distinctive smell for each it seemed and her mind knew how to separate each other. As her eyes opened, she looked at him . . .

"If this is real . . . why me?" she asked curiously; her mind slowly accepting the possibility.

"Because you would die otherwise.." He knew she was sero positive..

"I don't understand," she replied. "I would have died?"

"You have aids." He saw her pale, it was her largest secret, she had gotten it from a rape..

"Oh my god . . ." she swallowed hard and put her head in her hands. It was what she'd always been afraid of . . . Had tested herself religiously . . . Her last test had been clean . . . but she was due for another. It had been scheduled for the next month.

"I smelled it.. it has a certain odor.."

"I was . . . I mean, I wasn't the type to just sleep with anyone . . . regardless of what you might think . . . You were an exception . . . and . . ." she sighed as tears misted her eyes. "Aids . . ." Her heart dropped. Either way, she'd been dead. She just hadn't known it.

"I found it a waste such a beautiful creature would die.. I wanted you to live."

Her eyes turned back to him. "You really think I'm beautiful?" she asked, still trying to take her new reality in.

"Yes, someone I would like to share my life with.." He kissed her anew.

She melted into his kiss as if she had always been meant to be with him . . . It was strange and she could still feel her heart pounding. But wasn't her heart supposed to be still while she was a vampire she thought curiously as the kissed ended, but she didn't move away from him.

"Your heart still beats.." He said. "Even though you are undead now."

What is Creativity?

You know, I think you can be creative in almost any area you work in or enjoy. It's a matter of thinking outside of the box. For me, being a writer, I see a story unfold in my head and I merely write what I see and feel . . . Sometimes it's easier than other times. Lately it's been more challenging, but I think maybe I'm back on track and can start working on my fourth book again - not that I have any of the other three published yet. I will be looking into that shortly.

But I thought maybe I would use this spot for some of my more interesting ideas . . . stuff that I might not do anything really extensive with or maybe use this place as a sounding board for myself and my ideas . . . Who knows . . . I might even share some of the goofy stuff I write with a friend of mine . . .

Anyway, this is a good start I think . . . Now it's time for me to get a little creative writing for fun done . . . maybe I'll post it.
But at least I have a place to brainstorm!
